Housing Programs
Affordable housing is defined in terms of the income of the people living in the home. Aside from the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program, which is administered by state and local housing finance agencies, and the Opportunity Zone tax expenditure, overseen by the Internal Revenue Service, the rest of these programs are administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
